OU sends 8 wrestlers to 2017 National Championships


The 18th-ranked Oklahoma Sooners wrestling team is sending competitors to this year's NCAA Championships in St. Louis.

For the fourth consecutive year, heavyweight Ross Larson heads to the national tournament. The 285-pounder is slated to face off against 15th-ranked Ryan Solomon of the University of Pittsburgh.

Senior Clark Glass (157 lbs.), Senior Matt Reed (174 lbs.) and Junior Mike Longo (141 lbs.) are all making their third appearance at the NCAA Championship. Glass currently ranks 13th in his weight class.

Sophomore Davion Jeffries (149 lbs.) will be seeded 11th in his bracket and makes his second appearance.

Freshman Christian Moody (125 lbs.), Junior Yoanse Mejias (165 lbs.) and Senior Brad Johnson (197 lbs.) are all making their NCAA Championships debuts.

The National Championships are slated for March 16-18 inside the Scottrade Center in St. Louis.

  • 125: Christian Moody vs. No. 6 Ethan Lizak (Minnesota)
  • 141: Mike Longo vs. No. 10 Bryce Meredith (Wyoming)
  • 149: No. 11 Davion Jeffries vs. Joey Delgado (Oregon State)
  • 157: No. 13 Clark Glass vs. May Bethea (Penn)
  • 165: Yoanse Mejias vs. No. 10 Te'Shan Campbell (Pitt)
  • 174: Matt Reed vs. Jake Residori (SIUE)
  • 197: Brad Johnson vs. No. 15 Ricky Robertson (Wisconsin)
  • HWT: Ross Larson vs. No. 15 Ryan Solomon (Pitt)
