University of Oklahoma officials have added more options after receiving backlash for closing Lindsey Street to tailgaters.

OU President David Boren announced Wednesday that tailgating will be permitted on Lindsey Street, just one block west of the previous area. The university previously announced that Lindsey Street would be off limits to tailgaters.

"The university recognizes that tailgating is an important part of the game day experience for many fans," Boren said. "Our goal is to maintain the security of our students in campus housing while accommodating fans as much as possible."

Other tailgating areas have been opened up north of the law school, along Asp Avenue east of Walker Tower, at the Duck Pond east of the stadium and along Elm Avenue from Lindsey north to the Physical Science Center.

OU kicks off the season at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 2 against UTEP.
