OU, Tennessee renew football series
NORMAN, Okla. (KOKH) —
OU is set to renew its home-and-home series with Tennessee.
Sooner Sports reports that the Sooners and Volunteers will meet in Norman on Sept. 12, 2020 and in Knoxville on Sept. 7, 2024. The teams played the last of their home-and-home match-ups in 2015 as the 19th-ranked Sooners came back from down 17 to win in overtime.
OU has a slate of marquee non-conference games over the next decade. The Sooners travel to Ohio State in 2017 and then feature home-and-home series with UCLA, in 2018 and 2019, Nebraska in 2021 and 2022, and Michigan in 2025 and 2026.
OU Athletic Director Joe Castiglione said the Tennessee series renews the Sooners commitment to big non-conference games.
"The games in 2014 and '15 demonstrated a tremendous respect between two storied programs, as well as between a pair of passionate fan bases, and so for the players, coaches and fans, we're excited to renew this high-profile series," Castiglione told Sooner Sports.
