Rudolph named recipient of 2017 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award

Oklahoma State quarterback Mason Rudolph has been named the recipient of the 2017 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.

Candidates for the award must be college seniors or fourth-year juniors on schedule to graduate with their class. As well as being judged for their on the field accomplishments, candidates are chosen for their character, citizenship, scholastic achievement and leadership qualities.


"Winning the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award is a meaningful honor for me because this is a reflection of how I was raised," Rudolph said. "I was taught from a young age that there is more to life than football and I'm thankful to the committee for selecting me. I am humbled and thankful to everyone who helped me get to this point."

Rudolph led the Cowboys to a 9-3 regular season record. He is among the top five quarterbacks in nearly every major statistical category and owns no less than 50 school records.

Past Golden Arm winners include, Peyton manning, Carson Palmer, Eli Manning, Matt Ryan, Colt McCoy and Deshaun Watson.


The Big 12 will announce their conference awards on Thursday.
