The Sporting News says something that most people in Oklahoma already know: Marcus Smart is one of the best players in college basketball.

The Oklahoma State sophomore was named a preseason All-American by the magazine Wednesday, joining Creighton senior Doug McDermott, sophomore Mitch McGary of Michigan, and two freshmen: Jabari Parker of Duke and Kansas' Andrew Wiggins.

The Cowboy from Flower Mound, Texas is also featured on the regional cover of Sporting News' 2013-14 College Basketball Magazine.

Smart and McDermott were both first-team All-Americans in 2013 according to Sporting News.

The magazine also had the Cowboys ranked preseason No. 10, following top-ranked Kentucky, No. 2 Michigan State, third-ranked Louisville, No. 4 Duke, fifth-ranked Arizona, No. 6 Kansas, seventh-ranked Michigan, No. 8 Syracuse and ninth-ranked North Carolina.

Smart and the rest of the Cowboys officially tip off the season on November 8 against Mississippi Valley State.
