Oklahoma State tops Texas 38-13 for third straight win in Austin

The Oklahoma State Cowboys beat the Texas Longhorns38-13. The win moved the Cowboys to 9-1overall and 6-1 in the Big 12.

Stars of the game included quarterback Clint Chelf, whopassed for 197 yards and 2 TD's to go with another 95 yards rushing. With receiver Josh Stewart out with injuryCharlie Moore stepped up to catch six passes for 83 yards and onetouchdown.

While on defense takeaways the story as the Cowboyspicked off three passes with cornerback Justin Gilbert getting two andlinebacker Caleb Lavey getting the other.

The Cowboys have two games left and both are inStillwater. Beat Baylor and Oklahomaand they win their second Big 12 Championship in the last three years.


Quarterback Clint Chelf scored on an 18 yard quarterback draw to give the Cowboys a 7-0 lead. Chelf had 50 of the 72 yards on the drive by running the ball himself.

After Texas put together a 60 yard drive that produced a field goal OSU was ready to put up points again but Chelf was intercepted in the end zone by Mykkele Thompson to kill the drive. OSU still led 7-3 after one quarter.


The second quarter saw the Cowboys widen their lead on a four yard touchdown run which gave OSU a 14-3 lead.

It appeared the Cowboys were taking control but Texas went on 10 play 75 yard drive that was capped by a 7 yard touchdown run by Malcolm Brown to cut OSU lead to 14-10.
Chelf and the Cowboys responded by matching the touchdown with a Chelf to Tracy Moore pass that pushed the lead back to 11, 21-10. It got better for the Cowboys when Justin Gilbert intercepted Case McCoy and returned it 43 yards for TD and a 28-10 lead at the half.


The third quarter began with Texas trying a reverse on the kickoff but OSU snuffed that out by penning Texas inside their own five. Texas was still able drive 84 yards and kick a 27 yard field goal to cut OSU's lead to 28-13. But OSU was able quiet any Longhorn momentum by matching the three points with a Seth Grogan 29 yard field goal for a 31-13 lead.

The Cowboys added to their lead with the help of linebacker Caleb Lavey, who intercepted McCoy. That led to a 21 yard TD toss from Chelf to Charlie Moore. Pokes led 38-13. Justin Gilbert picked off his second pass but suffered an injury to what looked like his left shoulder. Gilbert went with Texas medical staff to perhaps get shoulder or shoulder blade looked at closer. OSU led 38-13 after three and it stayed that way until the final whistle.
