Gundy takes the podium during Big 12 Media Days
DALLAS — It's funny how much can change in a year. Oklahoma State tied for second in the league last season after being picked as the preseason favorite. This year, the Cowboys were voted fifth in the Big 12 preseason poll, which doesn't come as a surprise considering OSU graduated 28 seniors and only returns four starters on defense. Head Coach Mike Gundy talked about the youthfulness of his team on Monday, at Big 12 Media Days in Dallas. "I don't think there's any question we're a different football team than we were," said Gundy. "We've got some work ahead of us, we've got some good, young players will will develop. Our philosophies will stay the same. There's really no substitute for experience, but these guys will learn on the run." OSU opens up the 2014 season against the defending national champion, Florida State, August 30th at Jerry World. Challenge welcomed. "If you can't get hyped up playing on national television, on ABC, against the defending national champions and the past Heisman winner," said junior cornerback Kevin Peterson, "there must be something wrong with you." "You really find out early in the season, with an opener like this, who wants to fight through it and who wants to stand up and play hard," said Gundy.
