Cowboys taking nothing for granted
It wasn't that long ago that the Oklahoma State Cowboy basketball team was in the midst of a seven game losing streak. Fast forward to Marcus Smart returning from a three game suspension and the Cowboys have won four in row. The latest win was Monday night's 77-61 win over Kansas State.
Smart was good with 18 points six rebounds and five assists while Phil Forte led everyone with 23 points. The numbers are good but the thing most are concerned with is OSU"s NCAA Tournament hopes. They've got another 20 win season in the nation's best conference which leads one to believe they'll get an invite.
But OSU head coach Travis Ford wants to make sure their attitude remains the same with one game left in the regular season.
"We don't need to exhale," said Ford. "We need to continue to play with a sense of urgency and understand what makes our team good."
Senior guard Markel Brown is not ready to take anything for granted when it comes to securing a tournament bid.
"You never know about the bubble thing. You never know when NCAA Tournament talk comes around, and you're on the bubble with another team," said Brown. "If we get the win over Iowa State I'll be satisfied with what we've done and then I'll say we're a complete lock for the tournament."
The Cowboys game against Iowa State is on the road in Ames, Iowa. Tip time is 1:00 Saturday.
