Thunder announce hire of new assistant coach

The Oklahoma City Thunder announced Saturday that Darko Rajakovic will be joining the staff as a new assistant coach. Rajakovic has spent the past two seasons as the head coach of the Thunder's D-League affiliate the Tulsa 66ers. Thunder Head Coach Scott Brooks said Rajakovic's diverse basketball background, knowledge of the game and ability to develop players at a high level were apparent during his time in Tulsa. "I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to add him to our staff," Brooks said. Rajakovic is a Serbian native and the first head coach in NBA D-League history to be born outside of North America. he had a 51-49 record over two seasons in Tulsa including a NBA D-League Semifinals appearance in 2012-2013. During Rajakovic's time in Tulsa, the team was assigned seven players from the Thunder a total of 50 times. Rajakovic has coached five 66ers players to call-ups to the NBA. Rajakovic began his coaching career at 16-years-old in Serbia and has since coached in the Spanish professional basketball league and in the Serbian professional leagues.
