Kevin Durant talks Free Agency
LAS VEGAS — Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant is in Las Vegas competing for a spot on Team USA that will play in the FIBA World Cup. But when it came time to talk to the press many of the questions concerned Durant's upcoming free agency in 2016.
Most of the questions concerned him possibly going back home to play for the Washington Wizards. Durant grew up in a Washington D.C. suburb and still has a strong connection to the area. "It's in my blood. I love going back home, seeing my family and playing there, but I love Oklahoma City, too," said Durant. He added that it's too far in the future to discuss seriously.
Durant will be an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2016, which means he can sign with any team he wants. Oklahoma City will be able to pay him more than any other team in the NBA, which gives them a built in advantage.
Much of the talk about Durant returning home to play resulted when Lebron James left Miami to return to Cleveland, which is near his home of Akron, Ohio.
