Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant is headed to Las Vegas as part of Team USA's roster for this summer's World Cup of Basketball. Durant is one of 19 players on the roster that will eventually be trimmed for the World Cup competition in late August.
Durant, James Harden, Kevin Love and Anthony Davis are four holdovers from the Team USA's gold medal winning team in the 2012 London Olympics. Others on the roster include Blake Griffin(Clippers) Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson(Warriors) Paul George(Pacers) Damian Lillard(Blazers), Gordon Hayward(Jazz), DeMarcus Cousins(Kings), Bradley Beal(Wizards), Andre Drummond(Pistons), Kenneth Fariad(Nuggets), DeMar DeRozen(Raptors), Chandler Parsons(Mavericks), Kyrie Irving(Cavs) and Derrick Rose(Bulls)..The team will begin practice in Las Vegas July 28th. The roster will be trimmed to 15 before the final 12 roster begins World Cup play in late August.
Thunder guard Russell Westbrook withdrew from the team last week to give his surgically repaired knee rest this summer while Lebron James, Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony, who are all two time Olympic Champions, are setting out this summer with hopes of rejoining the team for the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.
