NEW YORK CITY — Derek Fisher last NBA game as a player was with the Oklahoma City Thunder May 29th but his pro career is not over. Fisher will be named head coach of the New York Knicks during a Tuesday afternoon press conference. Fisher has agreed to a five year $25 million contract to coach the Knicks where he'll be working under team President Phil Jackson. Jackson was Fisher's coach with the Los Angeles Lakers, where the two won five NBA Titles.It's believed Fisher will hire former Laker Kurt Rambis as an assistant coach along with Bill Cartwright, who played for Jackson in Chicago.Fisher played all of last season in Oklahoma City and portions of the two previous season's in Oklahoma City as well. Despite being best known for his championship years in L.A. Fisher had a major impact in with the Thunder."The guys is incredible. He's different from any teammate I ever had," said Thunder forward Nick Collison. "The way he can address the team almost like a coach but guys don't roll their eyes at him. He has these abilities unlike anyone else in terms of leadership. I've learned a lot from him."
