MILWAUKEE (AP) -- We haven't heard this much about the threat of bra burning since the days of the women's liberation movement. A historic Milwaukee bowling alley and bar nearly had a tradition ended when a fire inspector decided dozens of bras hanging from the ceiling were a fire hazard. The owner of the Holler House says the tradition started 45 years ago when women who had a few drinks decided to toss their bras onto skis that hang from the bar's ceiling. There are dozens hanging there, of all sizes and colors. Many of those who toss their bras sign and date them -- or write notes on them. After the inspector deemed the bras a fire hazard, they were taken down. But the media and a local politician threw their support behind the cause -- and the city backed down. As if the hanging bras weren't enough, the Milwaukee bar is also known for its two downstairs bowling alleys, which it claims are the oldest certified ones in the country.
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) -- A bicycle built for -- a casket? Its a service being offered by a funeral home in Eugene, Oregon. The Sunset Hills Cemetery and Funeral home says it features what it calls natural burials where the ride to the grave site is on the back of a three-wheeled bike. Wade Lind says he got the idea from bikers -- and designed the hearse himself. It's pedal-powered -- but it also has an electric motor to provide help with hauling the casket, which is in the shape of a bamboo casket. An Oregon TV station (KVAL (http://bit.ly/10VwlL1 ) reports Lind has bicycled five bodies so far -- and there's a waiting list for the service. The ride, complete with casket costs about $3,500.
PITTSBURGH (AP) -- The people at the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium are excited about one of its new arrivals. Its a Amur tiger cub, born six weeks ago. But for now, the only way to see the cub is on a video monitor near its pen. The cub weighs about 9 pounds -- so it's too small to be on display in the zoo's outside yard. There is a monitor at a window into the outdoor display. Never heard of a Amur tiger? They used to be called Siberian tigers -- but they are no longer found much in that region.
