Parents and students gather at the Capitol for 'Pass the Torch' education rally
OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) —
As many Oklahoma school districts headed back to class Monday, parents and students met at the Capitol to continue the rally for more education funding.
The "Pass the Torch" rally was designed to pick up the fight teachers started for more funding. Teachers and parents from several districts across the state came to the Capitol. One parent, Priscilla Whitewater, told FOX 25 that approximately 30 to 50 representatives from Berryhill Public Schools were at the Capitol.
"I think it's important for them to know that we're still here, we're still fighting for education and we're not going to give up," Whitewater said.
Those at the rally told FOX 25 they would be at the Capitol as long as they could. The Oklahoma Education Association called for an end to the teacher walkout last Thursday after nine days.
