Fire crews spent all night battling a wildfire in California that is still burning out of control.

The Ponderosa Fire has consumed 25-hundred acres and destroyed five homes.

Nearby residents are under mandatory evacuation orders and two schools are closed.

A church and community center are housing evacuated residents.

Separate shelters have been opened for pets and livestock.

The flames are threatening 800 structures.

More than fifty fire engines and eight air craft are being used to try to extinguish the blaze.
