Washita County grain elevator employee dies after workplace accident
An employee at a Washita County grain elevator is dead following a workplace accident.
According to the Washita County Sheriff's Office, at approximately 4:30 p.m. Feb. 9 emergency response crews were called to Rocky Farmer's COOP after an employee had slid into equipment in a grain elevator.
As emergency crews made their way to the scene, they received a second call stating the trapped employee was believed to be dead. Crews then workers to free the trapped man but determined his injuries were too severe. At 5:20 p.m. the Oklahoma Medical Examiner's Office was notified of the man's death.
Investigators are attempting to determine what caused the man to become trapped in the elevator machinery. The man's identity is being held pending family notification.
