12 apartments lost following 3 alarm fire in northwest Oklahoma City
OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) —
More than 20 people are without a home after a three alarm fire broke out at an apartment complex in northwest Oklahoma City.
The Oklahoma City Fire Department reports that at 4:12 p.m. Jan. 11 they were notified of a fire at The Village at Stratford, 12800 Stratford Drive.Upon arrival, firefighters found a two story building at the complex well involved. Deputy Chief Tony Davis reports that firefighters initially went inside the building and fought the fire, but quickly pulled out due to heavy smoke and flames. Firefighters then went into a defensive mode against the blaze.
By 5:30 p.m. the fire was under control. Davis says 12 units were destroyed in the fire. Twenty-four people were evacuated and now without homes.
No one was injured in the incident. The blaze brought out 22 rigs and 58 firefighters.
