Suspect flown to hospital after being shot by Grady County deputy
CHICKASHA, Okla. (KOKH) —
A man wanted on a felony warrant was medi-flighted to the hospital after being shot by a Grady County Sheriff's deputy.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation reports that at 11:15 p.m. March 14 two deputies were attempting to serve a warrant on 34-year-old Demon Reed.
The deputies observed Reed pull into his driveway at 1423 S. 7th Street in Chickasha. As a deputy attempted to contact Reed, he backed out of the driveway and began driving down an alley off Tennessee Avenue. The second deputy then drove to the other side of the alley to intercept Reed.
The OSBI reports that Reed began driving at the deputy, who then opened fire. Reed was struck by gunfire at least once. He was flown from the scene by a medical helicopter to an Oklahoma City hospital.
Reed remains in the hospital Thursday. The deputy that opened fire is on administrative leave.
The OSBI collected evidence and documented the scene overnight.
