TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) -- A man shot multiple times by two liquor store clerks during a failed robbery last month was in court Wednesday.

Police say Tyrone Lee is responsible for nearly a dozen area robberies since January. Court records show he's charged with 11 counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon.

On Feb. 22, Lee ended up in the hospital after an attempted robbery at Forest Acres Liquor Store near 12th and Memorial. Captured on surveillance video that has since gone viral, police say Lee entered the store with a shotgun and tried robbing the owner and her daughter who were working the counter. The women both grabbed their handguns and ended up firing at different times. Despite being shot repeatedly, police say Lee fought back, wounding the owner.

The suspect was gone by the time officers arrived, but police found Lee in critical condition at a nearby hospital shortly thereafter. A relative of his spoke to Tulsa's Channel 8 after the robbery, saying Lee struggled with mental illness and drugs. She said she apologized to the liquor store clerks.

Lee pleaded not guilty Wednesday at his arraignment. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 13.
