South Beach on Lake Eufaula is closed to swimmers

The City of Eufaula has announce the closure of South Beach on Lake Eufaula to swimmers due to high levels of bacteria. The cause of the bacteria was not released.

The announcement was made on the City of Eufaula's Facebook page Friday evening. The beach area is still open to visitors, as are the volleyball courts.

Signs advising of the closing are expected to be in place before long. The Jellystone Park area is still open and North Beach is open to swimmers.

There is no information on how long the closure is expected to last.
