Slain Logan County deputy to be laid to rest Monday

A fallen Oklahoma Sheriff's deputy will be laid to rest early next week.

Funeral services for Logan County deputy David James Wade, 40, will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 24 at the Lazy E. Arena in Guthrie. Wade will be laid to rest following the services at Summit View Cemetery.

Services will be under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home.

Deputy Wade was shot and killed at approximately 8:42 a.m. April 18 by Nathan Aaron Leforce, 45, near CR 66 and Midwest Boulevard while serving an eviction notice.

Wade was airlifted to OU Medical Center following the shooting, where he later died.

Leforce was subsequently captured and is currently being held in the Payne County Jail. He's due in Logan County court on Thursday.
