Prepping for the Thunder tenth season tip off
OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) —
The Oklahoma City Thunder kicked off its tenth season Thursday with a game against the New York Knicks.
Thousands of fans turned out for the season opener, the team's 300th consecutive sell-out, at the Chesapeake Arena.
More than 1,000 employees inside the arena make it all possible.
"It is truly teamwork in action," said Dan Mahoney with the OKC Thunder. "We're putting t-shirts on seats for opening night, we're getting all the concessions ready, we're getting the Thunder shop ready."
Employees stocked the shop with more than 200 unique items only available at the arena.
"Most of us have been here since 9 o'clock this morning and we'll probably leave here at midnight today," said Angie Kennedy, a sales associate.
But Kennedy says all the hard work is worth it when she sees the first fans come through those doors.
"I honestly don't even know what I make an hour here," she said. "I do it because I love the team."
Fans who have loved the team from the team from the beginning, like season ticket holder Suzan Crouch, say they're looking forward to this season.
"We have four kids so we never usually have an empty seat with our tickets," Crouch said.
And she believes the team will continue to grow over the next 10 years.
