Police: Woman wanted in connection to New Year's Eve murder
OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) —
Police hope to find a woman wanted in connection to a 2016 murder in Oklahoma City.
The Oklahoma City Police Department reports that 19-year-old Victoria Smith is wanted for accessory to a felony. The arrest warrant comes in connection to the Dec. 31 murder of 20-year-old Matthew Webster.
Webster was found shot and killed inside a vehicle at a convenience store in the 7900 block of W. Hefner Road. Webster was transported to the hospital where he died.
Investigators determined Webster was initially shot during an altercation at a home in the 8300 block of NW 106th and later driven to the convenience store.
On Jan. 3, police arrested 18-year-old Hareth Hameed of Oklahoma City in relation to the killing.
Court records state police were able to pull deleted text messages from Hameed's phone. The messages allegedly show Hameed and Smith having a conversation about Hameed shooting Webster prior to the shooting.
After the murder, the messages allegedly show Hameed explaining the shooting to Smith, to which she allegedly replies "I hope you hit him".
Hameed allegedly told police that Smith was his ex-girlfriend and was the reason he was fighting with Webster.
Following the shooting, Smith allegedly encouraged Hameed to switch out his license plate to help disguise his car and then told him to drive around until he found a paper tag to use.
Webster's death was considered the 77th homicide of 2016.
