A Bethany officer was injured after an altercation with a suspect Tuesday.

First reports of the injured officer came in just after 9:15 a.m. April 11 at the Jasper Garden Apartments, 2500 N. Rockwell. Bethany Police Department Deputy Chief John Reid reports that Officer Zack Zamudio was called to the complex by management after a tenant was causing a disturbance.

When Zamudio arrived the tenant had left. Reid says the officer found the suspect, 31-year-old Eric Chrystal. An altercation then occurred and the officer was knocked to the ground.

More units were called to the scene and the subject was taken into custody a short distance away. Zamudio was transported to the hospital with minor head and neck injuries.
