Police: Man stabbed with knife from birthday cake during party for 1-year-old
OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) —
A fight at a 1-year-old's birthday party led to a stabbing in southeast Oklahoma City.
At approximately 5 p.m. Oct. 8 an Oklahoma City Police Department officer was called to 7-Eleven, 1628 S. High Avenue, in reference to a stabbing. The officer arrived on scene and observed a man lying in the parking lot suffering from a stab wound to the back.
Witnesses to the incident told police that they had been at an apartment complex in the area for a 1-year-old's birthday party. A man and woman began arguing at the party after the man wanted to take his child for the night and bring it back to its mother's residence the next day.
The woman's family got involved in the fight and the woman began attempting to pull the child from the man's arms. The man was then allegedly punched by one of the woman's family members. The man's family then got out of their vehicle to break up the fight and a witness observed 40-year-old Alenea Bright grab a knife from the birthday cake and stab it into the back of a man in the fight. The group then left the scene and drove to the 7-Eleven to call police.
An officer located Bright and took her into custody on a complaint of assault with a deadly weapon.
