Police: Man robs woman at gunpoint at Edmond ATM
EDMOND, Okla. (KOKH) —
Edmond police arrested a man after he allegedly held a woman at gunpoint at an ATM.
Edmond Police Department reports show that at approximately 10:52 p.m. June 14 a woman was pulling money out of an ATM at Bank of America, 333 N. Bryant, when a man approached her and held her at gunpoint. The man, later identified as 28-year-old Dustin Byars, allegedly told the woman to withdraw $400 from the machine or he would shoot her.
The woman told the man her account was small and she could not withdraw that much and then pulled out $140. During the incident the woman pleaded with Byars to not shoot her because she had to take care of her children.
The man then allegedly took the woman's keys, the cash and her phone. After pleading with the man some more, Byars gave her back her keys and $20. He then fled the area on foot.
Officers were able to track Byars down and took him in to custody on complaints of robbery in the first degree, public intoxication and use of a firearm while committing a felony.
