Police apprehended a man they say fled an armed robbery in a taxi cab.

The Midwest City Police Department reports that Jason Wayne Pickard, 35, was arrested August 30 on a complaint of robbery with a firearm.

Police say Pickard called a cab to take him to Advance America Cash, 232 S. Air Depot. While at the store he allegedly pulled out a handgun and demanded money from the register. The store clerk then observed Pickard leave the business in a cab.

Officers responding to the robbery then called taxi companies around the metro until they learned that a man had been picked up from scene of the crime and dropped off at the Walmart near I-40 and MacArthur in Oklahoma City.

Oklahoma City Police Department officers assisted Midwest City officers in tracking down Pickard inside the store. He was then arrested. The weapon was discovered to be an air soft pistol.

Pickard reportedly admitted to police that he called a cab to take him to Advance America and then had the cab take him to a nearby Golden Corral where he threw the weapon in the bushes. He then called a cab from a different company to take him to Walmart.
