A man has been arrested after he led police on a pursuit after stealing a vehicle from a pregnant woman.

The Oklahoma City Police Department reports that Jose Manuel Guerra, 29, was arrested Feb. 6 on complaints of robbery in the first degree and attempting to elude.

Just after 12:30 a.m. police were called to carjacking at 1325 N. Walker. The woman told police that she was a nurse and was coming home from work when she pulled into her garage. She got out of her vehicle and began punching in the gate code and noticed a man running towards her vehicle.

Both the woman and the man, later identified as Guerra, reached the driver's side door at the same time. A struggle ensued and Guerra allegedly kicked the woman in the leg before getting into the door and driving away from the scene. The officer noted that the woman was pregnant.

The woman's husband was able to track the vehicle via the iPhone left on the passenger seat. The vehicle was tracked by authorities driving eastbound on I-40 near Sooner Road. As soon as authorities caught up to the vehicle, the man began driving at high rates of speed.

The ground pursuit was terminated as soon as a police helicopter began following the stolen vehicle from the air. Guerra reportedly stopped the vehicle under a bridge along I-35 at SE 25 Street and began running along the interstate.

Authorities were able to quickly apprehend him and book him into the Oklahoma County Jail.
