Police: Man accused of rape and assault after offering to help victim with modeling
OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) —
Police have arrested a man that they say raped and assaulted another man after offering to help with his modeling career.
The Oklahoma City Police Department reports that James Vincent Canary, 48, was arrested Dec. 5 on a complaint of first degree rape and assault and battery.
Police spoke with a man who reported that on Dec. 4 Canary had come to his residence in 5800 block of NW 34 Street to help the man start his modeling career. The two spoke for several hours and the man told Canary that he wasn't allowed to have people stay at the apartment and that he would have to go.
Canary appeared to be having trouble zipping his bags and the victim began helping him. Canary then allegedly wrapped his arm around the victim's neck and squeezed so hard he could not breathe. He then dragged the man to a bedroom and raped him.
After the incident Canary fell asleep on the bed and the victim snuck out of the home and called police. Police responded and found him asleep in the bed.
Canary was then booked into the Oklahoma County Jail.
