A fatal shooting Thursday marks Oklahoma City's 32nd homicide of the year.

It happened at the Meridian Ridge Apartments at NW 63rd and Meridian.

Police say the 911 call came in around 11:00 a.m. When they arrived, they found a man fatally shot in the parking lot of the complex.

A witness recalls hearing several gunshots ring out before finding a man dead outside.

"The maintenance man said over his radio, over his 2-way, said call the police there's been a shooting,” said Scott Cavener, who was tending to a plumbing issue at the complex. “Then I got with the maintenance man, we walked outside, we walked around, saw the guy laying on the ground."

Police believe the gunman acted alone and say he was seen running away from the scene on foot.

They're also still trying to verify the identity of the victim.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Oklahoma City police homicide tip line: 405-297-1200.
