Police identify Norman shooting suspect
NORMAN, Okla. (KOKH) —
Authorities have identified the suspect and victim from Wednesday's active shooter situation.
The Norman Police Department reports that at 2:30 p.m. Jan. 10 police were called to reports of an active shooter at Bergey Windpower, 2200 Industrial Boulevard. On scene, police found the suspect, 55-year-old William Ray Adams suffering from a gunshot wound to the face and neck. Authorities also discovered 32-year-old Colette Wind suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm.
After an investigation, police determined that Adams entered the business wearing a gas mask and attempted to forcibly remove his wife, who is an employee of Bergey Windpower.
Wind attempted to intervene and was allegedly shot by Adams. A second co-worker then jumped in and began an altercation with Adams. During the altercation, the co-worker was able to shoot Adams with his own weapon.
Wind and Adams were transported from the scene. Wind is in "fair" condition while Adams is in "good" condition.
While police were processing the scene, they discovered several suspicious devices in a vehicle on scene. A bomb squad determined those devices to be propane tanks.
Adams will face complaints of attempted kidnapping, assault and battery with a deadly weapon, feloniously pointing a firearm, possessing a firearm while in the commission of a felony and assault while masked.
