Police: Good Samaritan rescues teen from human trafficking

Izavia Smith, 21, was arrested Oct. 16 on a complaint human trafficking. (Oklahoma County Jail)

Polices say a Good Samaritan rescued a teenager forced into prostitution which led to the arrest of the man responsible.

Oklahoma City Police Department reports show that officers were contacted by a 17-year-old who stated she had been abducted. The girl stated she had traveled to Dallas with friends to go to a club the weekend prior. While at the club she lost her friends and was searching for them outside the club when a man, later identified as 21-year-old Izavia Smith, reportedly grabbed her and put her into a car and left the scene.

The teen told police that Smith took away her cell phone and held her against her will in a Dallas hotel room. During the stay, the man allegedly hit the girl causing an injury to her lip.

Smith then brought the teen back to Oklahoma City and held her against her will at Budget Inn, 4017 NW 39 Street. Smith posted an ad offering the girl on Backpage.com. A man responded to the ad and picked the teen up.

The man told the girl that he was there to rescue her and took her to her grandparent's home. The man then urged the teen to file charges on Smith.

Officers then arrived at Budget Inn and and arrested him on a complaint of human trafficking.
