The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation was called by the Washington County Sheriff's Office to investigate a shooting by a deputy.

The shooting happened Thursday afternoon in the area of Highway 75 and 3900 Road, according to OSBI. A bail bondsman had tracked Corey Wesley Peoples, 47, who was wanted for bail jumping. When WCSO deputies arrived the bondsman was talking to Peoples in a pasture.

Peoples then got a knife and put it to the throat of a woman who was with him, OSBI said. Deputies commanded Peoples to drop the knife. The woman fell to the ground and Peoples raised the knife as if to stab her, a deputy then fired his weapon wounding Peoples.

Peoples was taken to a Tulsa hospital where he was listed as stable. The OSBI says they will present their report to the district attorney. OSBI did not release the deputy's name.
