Metro-area voters head to polls to decide on new Senator, sales tax hike
OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) —
The polls are open across parts of the Oklahoma City metro area today.
Residents in parts of south Oklahoma City will be voting for a new state senator Tuesday. The seat was left vacant after Kyle Loveless resigned in April while being investigated by the Oklahoma Ethics Commission.
The Democrat in the race is Steven Vincent while the Republican choice is Paul Rosino.
Del City voters will also have to decide on a possible sales tax increase.
City officials put the tax hike on the table to try and keep firefighters from leaving to neighboring departments. They say the sales tax increase would give firefighters a $5 per hour raise.
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Make sure to bring your ID or voter registration card.
If you're not sure where to vote or if you're even eligible, visit the state election board online.
