Man dies after being injured in Oklahoma City shooting 16 years ago
OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) —
A man critically injured in a shooting 16 years ago in Oklahoma City has died at a local hospital.
The Oklahoma City Police Department reports that Ronald Deshell Steele, 51, died Nov. 29 at the OU Medical Center. Steele was injured July 14, 2001 in a shooting at an apartment complex at 1300 N. Walnut.
The Oklahoma Medical Examiner's Office reports that Steele died as a result of the shooting 2001.
Jerome Carter, 43, was charged with shooting with intent to kill in connection to the incident. The case was dropped in 2003 after Carter entered an agreement to plead guilty to several possession and distribution of marijuana charges. He was released from prison in 2010.
Steele's death is considered the 82nd homicide of 2017 in Oklahoma City.
