Police: Man arrested after attacking construction worker

A man was arrested after allegedly attacking a construction worker at an Oklahoma City apartment complex.

The Oklahoma City Police Department reports show that Matthew Rockwell, 39, was arrested on Sept. 3, after he broke into the Old Country Club Apartments on Agnew Avenue.

The apartments are currently undergoing renovation and there have been problems of past tenants breaking in.

Rockwell told a construction worker, that he could be there since he was a new owner but the victim said he needed to leave.

Police say that Rockwell picked up a green broken dowel rod and attacked the construction worker. The victim disarmed Rockwell and stabbed him in the arm during the attack.

After the struggle, Rockwell was arrested with charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Records show that Rockwell has a warrant in Cleveland County for failure to appear for entering a building with unlawful intent.

FOX 25 reached out to property managers, who said they don't have a statement at this time, but are looking into the situation.
