Man accused of robbing young boy following act of kindness arrested in Oklahoma City
OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) —
A man accused of beating a young boy and stealing his wallet following an act of kindness has been arrested.
The Oklahoma City Police Department reports that Mario Latrael Mason, 19, was arrested Feb. 8 on a warrant.
Mason was wanted following a Jan. 17 incident outside a convenience store near NW 10 and Rockwell. Police say Mason approached a 12-year-old boy inside the store and asked him for money. The boy gave the man money from his wallet and then left the store on his bicycle.
While the boy rode away, Mason allegedly ran him down and threw him from the bike. The boy was struck several times before Mason reportedly stole his wallet.
Police were able to identify Mason as a man caught on surveillance shortly before the incident. He was tracked down to the area of NW 10 and Bradley on Feb. 8 and arrested on a complaint of robbery in the first degree.
