Local fire, police departments sending Harvey relief to Texas

Federal and state officials are asking for any help they can get after the storm Harvey hammered the Texas gulf coast.

Officials in Oklahoma are answering those calls.

Several area and police departments will be heading to Katy, Texas for the next week to help with rescue and relief efforts. Nine members of the Oklahoma City Fire Department along with two members of the Norman Fire Department, Edmond Fire Department and one from the Mustang Fire Department are all part of the team. The Oklahoma City Police Department will also send two members to assist.

The team is part of the Oklahoma Urban Search & Rescue Task Force, and will be helping get people out of heavily flooded areas.

OG&E and the Central Oklahoma American Red Cross are also sending manpower to help with devastated areas.
