High fire danger forecast for northern Oklahoma

As wildfires continue to spread in southern California, the danger for wildfires is high here in the Sooner State.

A Red Flag Warning has been issued for northern Oklahoma from 11 AM through 6 PM Monday. Humidity is low and winds will be gusty from the west/northwest up to 25 mph, causing a high to critical threat for wildfires this afternoon. Fires could develop and spread rapidly this afternoon, so outdoor burning is not recommended.

Winds will be from the west early today up to 20 mph.

A cold front will move through this afternoon, causing winds to be from the northwest over 25 mph this afternoon and evening. Highs today will be in the upper 60s.

There is no rain in forecast this week, and winds will be breezy each day, so fire danger will remain high or critical.
