Garvin County Sheriff Larry Rhodes reports deputies responded to a report for a dead person in a rural part of the county on Saturday morning.

Rhodes says the sheriff's office got the call about 10:30 a.m. and deputies were dispatched to County Road 1690 north of Pernell, a community southwest of Elmore City. On arrival deputies confirmed a man was dead.

The death is being investigated as a homicide at this time. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has been asked to assist in the investigation.

Sheriff Rhodes says investigators from GCSO, OSBI and the Oklahoma Medical Examiner Office were on the scene until late Saturday and at this time no other information will be released.
