Former Edmond property manager gets 18 months for fraud
OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) —
A former property manager in Edmond was sentenced Thursday after she was convicted of defrauding clients and failing to pay taxes.
Angela Renee Reneau, of Oklahoma City, was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison for committing wire fraud and failing to file an income tax return.
Reneau admitted to law enforcement officials between 2010 and 2014, she provided real estate management services to owners of commercial office buildings in Edmond, through her business, Reneau Properties, LLC. She admitted to making unauthorized transfers of her clients' rental income into her Reneau Properties bank account and used those funds for her personal expenses. Reneau also told authorities she knowingly failed to file a federal income tax return with the IRS in 2014.
Along with her prison sentence, Reneau was ordered to pay restitution totaling $386,236.27 to five of her former clients. Reneau will also have to pay $137,352 in restitution to the IRS. She'll also serve three years of supervised release following her prison term.
