OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) —
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is confirming one person is dead after a crash involving a semi on the H.E. Bailey Turnpike.
The crash was reported around 8:30 a.m. near the intersection with the Norman Spur.
While it's still unclear how the wreck unfolded, reports show that part of the crashed truck is sitting on top of the overpass bridge, while the rest can be seen smoldering below.
It's unknown at this time if there are any other injuries involved with the crash. OHP troopers are advising drivers to avoid the area.
Eastbound traffic on the H.E. Bailey is being diverted to the Norman Spur, while westbound traffic is being transferred to the eastbound lanes.
Chickasha commuters can use Route 62 as an alternate route. Westbound drivers can exit the H.E. Bailey in Newcastle, and use Rt. 62 from there.
