Dozens came together Tuesday afternoon to protest recent comments made by University of Oklahoma Regent Kirk Humphreys.

The rally came just one hour ahead of the OU Board of Regents regular meeting.

Holding signs and chanting "No more Humphreys,” the crowd called for the former Oklahoma City mayor's immediate resignation.

"Hearing someone in such a big leadership role make comments comparing peoples’ identity to things like pedophilia or sexual assault is just completely inappropriate,” said Faith Blank, a student at the university.

"Especially with the new president being chosen soon to replace David Boren, and Kirk Humphreys is on the board that will be choosing that, I think it's very important now that the new leadership that is chosen also goes along with the mission,” said Will Runion, also a student at the university.

Students were also joined by state representatives and leaders of Freedom Oklahoma.

In addition to calling for Humphreys resignation as regent, Freedom Oklahoma is calling on OG&E, and all other companies and organizations Humphreys is affiliated with, to take appropriate action.
