Dept. of Health: 2 people have died due to the flu in the past week


Two people have died from complications due to influenza in the past week in Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Department of Health says the first deaths of the 2017-2018 flu season occurred between Nov. 22 and Nov. 28.

The agency reports that 105 people have been hospitalized from the flu since the season began on Sept. 1. In the past week, 19 total people have been hospitalized statewide.

The deaths occurred in Johnston and McClain counties. Oklahoma and Tulsa counties have seen the highest amount of hospitalizations with 26 and 23 respectively.
