A group of constituents met on Automobile Alley in downtown Oklahoma City to rally outside Sen. James Lankford's field office, Wednesday.

The rally happened a day after President Donald Trump fired FBI director James Comey.

"I'm a constituent and I'm just here to talk with my senator," Bowman Domingue said.

The crowd of about 15 people demanded answers about Comey's firing and called for an independent investigation into ties between the president's campaign and Russia.

"The timing of Comey being fired was a little bit strange, so we're here to say, 'hey senator, you represent us. Please listen to us. We would like an independent investigation.' It's the only way that we can let this get behind us," Domingue said. "If we have an independent investigation and they decide there's no ties to Russia, then we can put this whole thing behind us and get back to more important things."

The rally was in response to calling for protests at senators' field offices across the country.
