Chance for severe weather could dampen weekend plans
OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) —
Severe weather is expected across Oklahoma starting Friday night and throughout the weekend.
Rain and storms are happening this morning in western Oklahoma, with a few showers making it into the Oklahoma City Metro through noon. The afternoon will be dry and hot with highs in the low 90s.
Another round of storms will move into northwest Oklahoma after 7 PM Friday and into central Oklahoma after 9 PM through the overnight hours. Storms may be severe and there is an Enhanced risk for severe weather.
The main threats with storms tonight are damaging winds and large hail, as well as heavy rain. The tornado risk is very low.
Storms will move out early Saturday morning, then dry through the early afternoon on Saturday. Storms will redevelop Saturday afternoon, and some could be severe through the evening.
There is a Slight risk for severe weather from Oklahoma City into east and south Oklahoma. Damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes will be possible with any storm that develops Saturday afternoon.
Sunday will be dry for most of the day, with storm chances increasing in northern Oklahoma late Sunday night through Monday morning.
