A severe and stormy Sunday is on the way

The severe weather risk on Sunday, June 24, 2018. (KOKH)

After a stormy night for most of us, rounds of heavy, strong storms are possible through the afternoon. A few storms between now and then will have some wind and hail.

We'll have a higher threat of severe storms this evening into tonight with 2 more waves of stormy weather. Parts of Western OK is in an Enhanced Risk with the rest of us in the Slight Risk area. The latest weather maps indicate that t-storm chances this evening are in the 20-50% range with the first round. That means many of us will get severe storms, but some areas will miss out. There are higher chances for storms overnight as the second wave marches through. Damaging winds, hail, & flooding are the main concerns this evening through the overnight hours.

The tornado risk mainly out west and very low but please plan and be prepared.

Yes, this is a very strange and active pattern for the first weekend of summer. But let's hope we just get some decent rain with limited severe storms, because that sunny and awfully steamy weather returns early this week...for a while.
