Toddler booted from Florida preschool because of mom's Facebook post
A Florida toddler has been kicked out of preschool not because of something he did but for what his mom posted on Facebook. Ashley Habat says she was only venting about her latest run-in with her son's private Christian preschool. She complained that they didn't have enough time to get ready for picture day -- and in her post she questioned whether the teachers were "ignorant." Her post read "Why is that every single day there is something new I dislikes (sic) about Will's school? Are my standards really too high or are people working in the education field really that ignorant." She said when she wrote the post that she didn't think the school would ever see it because of her privacy settings. However, her post showed that she checked in at the school when she wrote it.The next morning they were called to the office. "They just felt like we weren't the right fit of parent relationship with the school and that they didn't want him as a student anymore. He had done nothing wrong," says Habat. According to the letter of dismissal it say's quote "Your relationship with Sonshine did not get off to a very good start the first day of school...You utilized social media to call into question not only the integrity but the intelligence of our staff. These actions are also consistent with sowing discord which is spoken of in the handbook you signed.""I was in shock. Why would you expel a 4 year-old over something his mom posts on her private Facebook page only people on her friends list can see," Habat said. The school has not released a public comment.
