Texting and driving crash caught on police dashcam

A Florida man learned a hard lesson about texting and driving. Police say he was texting when he crashed his car into a tree and the entire thing was captured on a police dashcam.

Michael James Woody Jr., 23, of Fort Myers, was cited for careless driving and texting while driving after crashing and rolling his car. At the time, he was being followed by an FMPD officer due to his erratic driving, according to a crash report from the department.

In the video, you can see the Pontiac accelerate across one lane of traffic, onto a sidewalk where it struck a guardrail, bus stop sign and tree before rolling over, according to the report.
