PORTLAND, Ore. — Two Portland teenagers were sentenced Tuesday after they posted a video of themselves putting a kitten into a microwave and turning it on. The two girls, who were 15-year-old at the time, pleaded guilty to animal cruelty charges last month, according to WGME. Police say the teens put the kitten into the microwave for a few seconds and captured it all on video. When the video hit the web, it went viral immediately, sparking mass outrage on social media. The teens' attorney said they had no intention of hurting the cat.Luckily, the kitten survived and was later adopted. The two girls will have to complete 100 years of community service each as part of their sentences.
